Agate Beach County Park
Lopez Island, WA
Agate Beach County Park sits at the shady, west facing southern tip of Lopez Island next to Iceberg Point, a small pebble and sand beach with rocky outcrops where cormorants, and occasionally puffins, gather offshore. A grassy picnic area sits above the beach, part of a broader stretch of protected land.
Real and legitimately scenic, but the removed beach stairs are a genuine access limitation worth knowing before a visit, not just a footnote.
How we score beachesThe stairs down to the beach have been removed for erosion, so check current access before planning to walk all the way to the water. The bluff top park and views remain open regardless, and the Iceberg Point trail nearby is a worthwhile hike even if the beach itself is hard to reach right now.
Free, small parking lot; open year round, day use only.
Any season for the bluff top views. Summer for the most comfortable walk.
