Alamitos Peninsula is the narrow strip of sand separating Alamitos Bay from the open ocean, with Seaside Walk running along the inland, bay-facing side. It's a genuine sandy ocean beach despite sitting right against the calmer bay, giving visitors a choice of water depending on which side they walk to.

The choice between calm bay water and open ocean a short walk apart is a genuinely useful feature most visitors don't expect.
