Burney Park anchors the public access today, genuinely dog friendly and part of the Timucuan Ecological and Historic Preserve.
The genuine civil rights history and the protected dune system give it a weight and meaning most beaches don't carry, though it remains a small, quiet stretch without big amenities beyond that history.
