Anahola Beach

Anahola, HI

Family-friendlyUncrowdedScenic

Anahola Beach opens into a long, gently curving bay on Hawaiian Home Lands, wide enough that even a busy Sunday crowd of local families barely fills it. A stream splits the sand near its northern end, calm enough on most days for little kids to wade the shallows while older cousins paddle out past the break.

Locals Score🥥🥥🥥🥥🥥

A real family beach for the Anahola community with plenty of room to spread out, though the surf can turn unpredictable past the stream mouth and there's little shade beyond the pavilion.

How we score beaches
Local Tip

Head to the south end near the county park pavilion for shade and picnic tables. The stream mouth end has neither, just open sand and sun.

Parking

A county park lot sits just off Kuhio Highway at the beach park, usually with room even on weekends.

Accessibility

A short paved path runs from the lot to the sand, with the grass and open beach beyond it flat and easy to cross.

Pets

Dogs are not permitted at Anahola Beach Park, per Kauai County park rules.

Weather & the best time to visit

Summer's calm water and light wind make this the easiest season for swimming with kids near the stream mouth. Winter's stronger surf and rain push most local families toward the more protected south end instead.
