Arcadia Beach
Cannon Beach, OR
Arcadia Beach sits about two miles south of downtown Cannon Beach, a mile plus stretch of sand between two headlands that gets a fraction of Haystack Rock's crowds. Lion Rock sits just offshore to the north, and the beach is a regular stop for locals who want the same coastline without fighting for a parking spot.
Well loved locally as the quieter Cannon Beach alternative, held back a notch only by having no facilities beyond the small lot.
How we score beachesPull off at the wayside right on Highway 101. It's easy to miss since there's no town here, just a small lot and a set of stairs.
Free wayside lot directly off Highway 101, small but rarely full.
A short paved path and a few stairs lead down to the sand from the highway lot.
Leashed dogs are allowed on the beach.
Summer, June through September, brings the driest weather; the offshore rocks make for good tide pooling at low tide any time of year.
