Avon-by-the-Sea keeps things simple, a compact stretch of beach between Bradley Beach and Belmar where badges are sold only at tag booths right on the sand rather than online or at a borough office. Free street parking runs along the town's small grid of blocks, and a free municipal lot at East End Avenue backs it up once the curbside spots disappear.
Free parking is a real point in its favor along a coast where that's increasingly rare, but there's little else here to distinguish it from Bradley Beach or Belmar next door.

Ocean temperatures follow the rest of central Monmouth County, into the low to mid 70s by August. The badge booths operate roughly nine to five during the season, worth timing a first visit around.
