Avon-by-the-Sea Beach
Avon-by-the-Sea, NJ

Avon-by-the-Sea keeps things simple, a compact stretch of beach between Bradley Beach and Belmar where badges are sold only at tag booths right on the sand rather than online or at a borough office. Free street parking runs along the town's small grid of blocks, and a free municipal lot at East End Avenue backs it up once the curbside spots disappear.
Free parking is a real point in its favor along a coast where that's increasingly rare, but there's little else here to distinguish it from Bradley Beach or Belmar next door.
How we score beachesHead straight for the East End Avenue lot if street parking looks tight. It's free, and locals know it's usually the last option to fill up.
Street parking near the beach is free but fills quickly. A free municipal lot at East End Avenue is the fallback once it does.
A flat walk from street parking or the municipal lot leads to the beach, with tag booths doubling as informal entry points along the sand.
Dogs aren't permitted on the beach except from October 1 through May 1.
Ocean temperatures follow the rest of central Monmouth County, into the low to mid 70s by August. The badge booths operate roughly nine to five during the season, worth timing a first visit around.
