Baker Beach
Florence, OR
Baker Beach picks up where Heceta Beach ends, part of a roughly five mile continuous stretch of sand managed as a wildlife area within Siuslaw National Forest. It's a genuinely quiet, undeveloped beach that also allows horseback riding, a rarity this close to a town the size of Florence.
A genuinely long, undeveloped stretch of sand that stays uncrowded even in summer, though there are no facilities here beyond the gravel lot.
How we score beachesThis is one of the few beaches in the area where horses are explicitly allowed, so if you're walking, expect to share the sand with riders, especially near the access road.
Free gravel lot at the end of Baker Beach Road.
A flat, sandy path leads from the lot directly to the open beach.
Summer, June through September, is driest; the beach stays open and walkable year round given its flat, continuous sand.
