Bal Harbour is a small, wealthy village on the barrier island just north of Miami Beach, its shoreline lined with luxury resorts like the Ritz-Carlton and St. Regis rather than public parking lots. The beach itself is quiet and well kept, a contrast to the busier public beaches in Miami Beach and Sunny Isles just to the south and north.
The quiet, upscale character and well kept sand are genuine pluses, though the limited public access compared to neighboring towns means it's more a backdrop for resort guests than a real public destination.
