Belfair State Park
Belfair, WA
Belfair State Park sits at the head of Lynch Cove, where Big Mission Creek meets Hood Canal's tideflats, creating a shallow, sun warmed natural pool explicitly marketed as family and kid friendly swimming. It was a Skokomish tribal shellfish gathering site before becoming a state park in 1952, and today it has 184 campsites, three yurts, and over three miles of trails.
A genuinely warm, kid safe Hood Canal swimming spot with real historical weight behind it, a strong all-around pick.
How we score beachesThe creek-meets-tideflat setup genuinely warms the water here more than most Hood Canal beaches, worth knowing if young kids are along.
