Big Bay Town Park
La Pointe, WI
Big Bay Town Park is the Town of La Pointe's park at the north end of Big Bay on Madeline Island, a couple of miles up the shore from the state park. A footbridge crosses the lagoon from the picnic area to a long sandy barrier beach. It's a favorite with island families and has a small campground in the woods.
A long, quiet barrier beach with a lagoon to paddle, though the campground books up fast in summer.
How we score beachesCross the lagoon bridge and walk south along the barrier beach. You can reach the state park on foot along the sand.
Parking at the town park; check posted signs for current rules.
A footbridge over the lagoon leads to the beach; the final stretch is soft sand.
The lagoon is warmer than the lake and good for paddling by midsummer. Cars come over on the Madeline Island Ferry, which runs most frequently from June through August.

New Buffalo City Beach is the first real Lake Michigan beach you hit crossing from Indiana, a wide stretch of sand at the end of Whittaker Street beside the harbor and the Galien River channel. Warren Dunes State Park
Sawyer, MI · Great Lakes
Warren Dunes State Park in Sawyer has roughly three miles of Lake Michigan shoreline and some of the tallest dunes in southwest Michigan.
