Black Rock Beach
Cohasset, MA
Black Rock Beach lies along Atlantic Avenue on the Cohasset side of the Hull line, about 150 feet of pebbly shoreline with views of Minot's Ledge Light. The pebbles keep most casual visitors away, and the waves can be big, so it is more of a scenic stop than a lazy swim day.
A scenic little Cohasset beach with a lighthouse view, but the pebbles, the surf, and the resident parking rules limit what visitors can do.
How we score beachesBring water shoes if you plan to get in, and check surf conditions first. The waves can be strong, especially after a storm.
Resident sticker on street parking along Atlantic Avenue in season, with limited non-resident access. Nearby blocks are tightly enforced.
A short walk from the street down to a pebbly shore. Not suitable for strollers or wheelchairs.
Summer days are calmer, while fall and winter storms bring dramatic surf and spray.
