Bluff Trail
Avila Beach, CA
Bluff Trail is a paved multi-use path connecting Avila Beach to Shell Beach along the top of the coastal bluffs, popular with walkers, runners, and cyclists rather than being a beach destination itself. The views along the way are genuinely some of the better ones on this stretch of coast.
A genuinely pleasant, easy walk or ride with real views, though it's a connector trail rather than a beach to spend the day at.
How we score beachesBring a bike if you have one, the paved surface makes this one of the more comfortable coastal rides in the area.
Free parking is available at either end of the trail.
A paved, flat multi-use path runs the length of the bluff between the two towns.
Dogs are welcome on the Bluff Trail but must be kept on a leash.
Fog is common most mornings year round, typical of the Avila Beach area.
