Bolsa Chica State Beach
Huntington Beach, CA

Bolsa Chica State Beach runs for miles along the coast south of the Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve, with large parking lots and a bicycle path making it one of the easier big Orange County beaches to actually get into. A self-contained RV campground sits at the south end for visitors staying overnight.
The parking capacity alone makes it a reliable choice, a solid, uncomplicated stretch of Orange County sand.
How we score beachesThe lots here have more capacity than most Orange County beaches, a reasonable fallback when Huntington City Beach further south is slammed.
Multiple large fee lots along the length of the beach.
Dogs on leash are allowed on the paved multi use trail and in parking lots, but not on the sand or in the water.
Cool water into early summer, most comfortable for swimming from August through early October.
