Boneyard Beach
Big Talbot Island, FL
Another boneyard beach, this one just south of the Georgia line, where erosion has left a tangle of dead oak and cedar trunks along the sand at the base of low bluffs. It is a short walk in from the parking area, and locals rate the light here best in the late afternoon.

How we score beachesFooting among the fallen trunks can be uneven, so watch your step more than you would on open sand.
Dogs are not permitted on the beach itself, though leashed dogs are allowed on the park's nature trails leading to it.
This stretch of northeast Florida coast shares the same hot, humid summer and June through November hurricane season as its Georgia neighbor just up the road. Late afternoon light is best in fall and winter, when the sun sits lower and the air is drier.
