Breezy Point Beach & Campground
Chesapeake Beach, MD
Breezy Point is a half mile of wide, sandy Calvert County beach just south of Chesapeake Beach, popular with families sifting the sand for shark tooth fossils that wash out of the nearby cliffs. A campground sits right behind the dunes, so a day trip here can turn into a weekend without much planning.
Wide, genuinely good sand and a real shot at finding shark teeth make this a Calvert County favorite, the trade-off being a busy, family-heavy crowd all summer.
How we score beachesBring a small sieve or mesh strainer for the sand if you're serious about finding shark teeth. Regulars swear by it over just scanning the surface.
A county-run lot at 5300 Breezy Point Road, with a per-person admission fee collected at the gate in season.
A flat, short walk from the lot to the beach, with restrooms and a bathhouse on site.
Water warms into the mid 70s by August, matching the rest of the Western Shore. Fossil hunting picks up after fall and winter storms, when fewer people are on the sand to compete for finds.
