Bullards Beach State Park
Bandon, OR
Bullards Beach sits north of the Coquille River, across the water from downtown Bandon, with the still active 1896 Coquille River Lighthouse visible from the beach itself. A large campground and miles of horse trails through the dunes set this park apart from the more compact beach accesses south of the river.
The lighthouse and horse trails give it real character beyond just the beach, well loved for camping trips, though river currents near the mouth are a genuine hazard to respect.
How we score beachesCombine the beach with a stop at the lighthouse, a short walk from the main day use area, before the river current makes swimming near the mouth a bad idea.
A day use fee applies at the main park lot; camping and horse trail access require separate arrangements.
A paved path leads partway to the beach, transitioning to open sand and dune terrain near the shore.
Leashed dogs are allowed throughout the park.
Summer, June through September, is the busiest camping season and driest for both the beach and horse trails.
