Bulls Island Beach
Awendaw, SC
Part of the Cape Romain National Wildlife Refuge and reachable only by ferry, with a stretch known as Boneyard Beach where bleached, sun bare tree trunks lie scattered across the sand like driftwood sculpture. Alligators, loggerhead turtles, and more bird species than most people can name all use this stretch of coast.
Bring water and sun protection. There is no shade and no facilities once you're off the ferry.
