Camp Richardson Beach
South Lake Tahoe, CA
Camp Richardson Beach is the resort beach at historic Camp Richardson on Lake Tahoe's South Shore, a quarter mile of sand with a lakefront restaurant and bar right on it. The marina next door rents boats, jet skis, kayaks, and paddleboards. Looking east you get Heavenly's ski runs and Cave Rock across the water.
Easy, fun, and everything's right there, but it's a busy resort beach and it feels like one on a July Saturday.
How we score beachesGrab a table on the deck at the lakefront restaurant around sunset, then walk the sand. The light on the East Shore mountains is the show.
The resort has parking across Highway 89; it gets tight on summer weekends and during events.
A short walk from the resort grounds leads to the sand; the restaurant deck sits right at the beach edge.
Peak season is late June through Labor Day, when the marina and restaurant are in full swing. The resort stays open in winter for snow play, but the beach itself is a summer thing.
