Cape Sebastian State Scenic Corridor Beach
Gold Beach, OR
Cape Sebastian rises more than 700 feet above the ocean just south of Gold Beach, with a viewpoint at the top and a trail dropping down toward Hunters Cove and a beach that stays quiet simply because reaching it takes real effort. On a clear day the view stretches far enough south to see into California.
A genuinely dramatic viewpoint and a rewarding hike down to a quiet cove, though the steep trail keeps it out of reach for a casual visit.
How we score beachesThe trail down to Hunters Cove is steep and the return climb is real work. Budget more time and water than the distance alone suggests.
Free lot at the Cape Sebastian viewpoint off Highway 101.
A steep trail with real elevation change leads from the viewpoint down toward the cove; not suitable for strollers or wheelchairs.
Summer, June through September, brings the clearest long distance views from the top and the driest trail conditions down.
