Centerville Beach County Park runs for miles below dark bluffs south of Ferndale, one of the longer open beaches in Humboldt County and one where limited off-highway vehicle use is still allowed with advance notice. The scale of the place, more than any single feature, is what draws people out here from town.

The sheer length and scale of open beach is genuinely worth the drive from Ferndale, though the exposed, windy setting isn't built for a relaxed lounge on the sand.

How we score beaches
Local Tip

Call the county ahead if you're hoping to bring a vehicle onto the sand, the OHV allowance here has rules and isn't a given.

Parking

Free parking is available at the park.

Accessibility

The path from parking to the sand isn't documented in detail, so allow extra time on your first visit.

Pets

Dogs are welcome; check posted signage for specific leash rules.

Weather & the best time to visit

Wind off the water is a near constant here, and the fog pattern common to Humboldt County holds through much of summer.
