Coast Guard Beach
Truro, MA
Coast Guard Beach is an ocean beach at the end of Coast Guard Road in North Truro, managed by the town of Truro, not the National Seashore. It's a separate place from the Coast Guard Beach in Eastham. There is no lifeguard and no off-road vehicle access. Seasonal portable toilets and bike racks are the only amenities, so bring everything else.
A quiet, unlifeguarded ocean beach with a short parking lot is the sort of place locals guard, but the resident-heavy lot and sticker rules make it hard for visitors.
How we score beachesThe town sells only seasonal stickers, with no daily pass, so a day trip without one means parking elsewhere. Ten of the lot's 17 spaces are reserved for Truro residents.
The lot has 17 spaces and 10 are set aside for Truro resident sticker holders. In season, a Truro beach parking sticker is required, and only seasonal stickers are sold, bought online.
Handicap parking is provided, but the town does not list the beach itself as handicap accessible.
The open Atlantic stays cold well into summer, with the most comfortable swimming in August and early September. Spring and fall bring wind off the water and long empty stretches of sand.
