Cove Road Beach
Nanticoke, MD
Cove Road Beach is a long, narrow stretch of sand on the Nanticoke River, separated from its parking area by tall beach grass that makes the water feel more tucked away than it actually is. Like nearby Roaring Point, the water stays calm and shallow, a solid pick for paddlers and swimmers looking to skip the bigger county beaches' summer crowds.
Calm water and enough length to spread out make it a reliable choice, though it's a low-amenity beach without much beyond sand and a few picnic tables.
How we score beachesThe shaded picnic tables near the lot are a genuinely nice spot to wait out the hottest part of a summer afternoon between swims.
A small lot off Cove Road, free to use.
A short walk through beach grass connects the lot to the sand.
Water warms into the mid 70s by August, calm and shallow along the whole stretch. Paddling conditions stay good well into the fall as the Nanticoke's current settles.
