Leashed dogs are allowed on the beach for day visits only if brought by private boat, since the park ferry does not transport pets and pets are not permitted in the Sea Camp campground.
Coastal Georgia's summer humidity is heavy enough that many visitors prefer spring or fall, when temperatures are milder and the biting insects that plague the marsh in summer ease off. Hurricane season, June through November, is also worth watching before booking the ferry.
