Deadman Bay Preserve
San Juan Island, WA
Deadman Bay Preserve runs about 1,600 feet along San Juan Island's west shore, connected by trail to neighboring Lime Kiln Point State Park and sharing the same whale watching corridor. The San Juan County Land Bank, which manages it, calls it one of the most scenic and popular beaches in the islands, and the beach, tide pools, and rocky bluff back that up.
Genuinely one of the better swimmable, walkable beaches on the island's west side, well loved locally and free to visit.
How we score beachesCombine it with Lime Kiln Point on the same visit; the trail connection means you can watch for orcas from two spots without moving the car.
No fee, no pass required since it's Land Bank land. A year round outhouse is on site.
