Deerfield Beach runs along Ocean Way, a boardwalk connecting the beach to a string of restaurants and the Deerfield Beach International Fishing Pier, a favorite spot for both anglers and sunset watchers. It sits at the quieter, more residential north end of Broward County's beach towns, without the density of Fort Lauderdale further south.
The quieter, more residential character and the pier make it a solid, reliable local beach, though it doesn't have a standout feature that draws visitors from outside Broward County.
How we score beachesTime a walk on the Ocean Way boardwalk for sunset if the pier's angle catches your eye, it's a popular but not overly crowded spot compared to Fort Lauderdale's promenade. Parking enforcement runs late, until midnight, so don't assume evening parking is free just because the sun's down.
Metered parking is enforced daily from 6am until midnight in the zones north of SE 1st Street and along Ocean Way, including the pier lot. Rates vary by zone, posted on each meter.
The Ocean Way boardwalk is flat, paved, and easy the length of the beachfront, with regular access points onto the sand. The pier itself is a level, easy walk out over the water.
Dogs aren't allowed on the beach, the pier, or the Ocean Way boardwalk.
Winter and spring bring South Florida's driest, mildest weather and the biggest crowds. Summer's heat and hurricane season, June through November, thin things out some on weekdays despite the warmest water of the year.
