Dosewallips State Park
Brinnon, WA
Dosewallips State Park is a 425-acre year round camping park where the Dosewallips River meets Hood Canal, 5,500 feet of saltwater shoreline plus river frontage. A beach trail leads to an observation platform over the tide flats with Olympic Mountain views, historically a strong spot for Manila and native littleneck clams and oysters, though harvest has closed in recent seasons due to declining clam abundance and biotoxin rules.
A real, well documented multi-use park with genuine river-mouth and tide-flat scenery, worth visiting for the hiking and views even with the shellfish season currently in flux.
How we score beachesTreat the shellfish harvesting here as historical rather than currently guaranteed; the swimming, beachcombing, and hiking at the river mouth still hold up regardless of the clam season status.
A Discover Pass is required.
