Double Bluff Beach
Freeland, WA
Double Bluff Beach runs about two miles along Whidbey Island's southwest shore facing Useless Bay, and it's widely considered one of the best off leash dog beaches in Washington. The off-leash zone starts roughly 500 feet past the parking lot, marked by a windsock, with a dog rinse station waiting back at the lot for the walk out.
A genuine destination beach, especially for dog owners, long and sandy with real amenities, one of the best documented off-leash beaches in the state.
How we score beachesKeep dogs leashed for that first 500 feet to the windsock; rangers do check, and it's an easy rule to miss if you're used to off-leash beaches that start right at the lot.
Free, no Discover Pass needed since it's an Island County park.
Bathrooms, outdoor showers, and a picnic area are at the parking lot. The beach itself is wide sand near the access, rockier toward the west.
Off-leash allowed starting about 500 feet past the lot, marked by a windsock; leashed before that point.
