Driftwood Beach

Jekyll Island, GA

ScenicUncrowded

A graveyard of sun bleached live oak and pine trunks left behind as the shoreline eroded and the trees toppled where they stood. It photographs like nowhere else on the Georgia coast, and locals will tell you sunrise is the only time to see it properly, before the day trippers arrive.

Local Tip

Come at low tide for the most sand to walk among the fallen trees, and go early for the best light.
