Ellisville Harbor State Park
Plymouth, MA
Ellisville Harbor State Park is a quiet coastal reserve in Plymouth on Cape Cod Bay, with rolling meadows, a red pine forest, and a half mile trail that leads to a beach and salt marsh along the harbor. It has no summer crowds, no snack bar, and no swimming scene; it is a place to walk and look.
A rare wild stretch of coast in Plymouth with real solitude, but it has no facilities and the trail to the shore is a walk.
How we score beachesBring binoculars and water. The marsh and harbor draw birds, and there are no amenities at the shore.
A small lot serves the park. Check with the state park for current hours and any seasonal rules.
A half mile trail leads from the lot toward the shore over uneven ground, so it is not suited to wheelchairs or strollers.
Spring and fall are the best seasons for a walk and birdwatching. Summer is pleasant, though the trail can be buggy.
