Fiesta Island
Mission Bay, CA
Fiesta Island is a genuine multi-use stretch of Mission Bay, with water skiing on the open water, real dune and wetland habitat for birders, and an off-leash dog park that's a local favorite for dogs who want space to run. It's one of the more unusual, functional corners of the bay rather than a typical swimming beach.
A genuinely multi-use spot for water skiers, birders, and dog owners alike, more functional than scenic but useful for all three.
How we score beachesThe dog park here is genuinely spacious, one of the better off-leash options in San Diego if you're traveling with a dog.
Free parking along the island's perimeter road.
A designated off-leash dog park covers part of the island.
Sheltered bay water warms up earlier in the season than the open ocean nearby.
