Fortunes Rocks Beach
Biddeford, ME
Fortunes Rocks Beach is a wide sandy crescent in Biddeford between Biddeford Pool and Goose Rocks, with old shingled summer houses set back from the dunes. It has the feel of an old summer colony, and it gets steady surf when the swell is up.
A wide, unspoiled beach with real waves and a local feel, though the parking system is awkward for day visitors.
How we score beachesGo on a weekday morning in July or August. The surf is usually pushing in by then, and you will have plenty of sand to yourself.
Resident stickers plus a fee for visitors. Confirm current rules with the City of Biddeford before you drive out.
The walk to the water crosses soft sand. Not wheelchair friendly.
The best swimming weather is late July through August, though the water stays cold. Autumn storms bring big surf and empty sand.
