Miles of empty sand and a real fishing village, though the tides, heat and long drive demand planning.

How we score beaches
Local Tip

Check the tide chart before you go, since the mudflats north of town stretch for kilometers at low water. Drive or walk the beaches south of the pier for the best sand.

Parking

Park in town near the pier or drive onto the beaches south of it. Check soft sand and tide before driving the shore.

Accessibility

The beach is reached from town streets over soft sand, and driving the shore needs care. Facilities are limited to the village.

Weather & the best time to visit

Summers are extremely hot, and winters are mild, which makes late fall through spring the comfortable season. The tidal range is large, so check the tide before heading out.
