Goose Rocks Beach
Kennebunkport, ME
Goose Rocks Beach in Kennebunkport is about three miles of sand, one of the longest and quietest beaches in southern Maine. Shingled cottages line the dunes and low tide exposes a wide, hard-packed flat. Bring a long walk in mind, because the far end is nearly empty even in August.
Three miles of quiet sand is rare on this coast, but the parking restrictions are strict and non-residents should plan carefully.
How we score beachesPlan a low tide walk to the far end of the beach and loop back along the road. It is the easiest way to get away from the busier stretch near the access.
Resident and permit parking rules apply in season. Check with the Town of Kennebunkport before you go, since rules and lot capacity change.
Reached by short paths and street ends through the dunes, then soft sand. Not wheelchair friendly.
Late July through August has the warmest water. Fog can roll in on hot mornings, then burn off by noon.
