Grayland Beach State Park
Grayland, WA
Grayland Beach State Park covers 412 dune-backed acres south of Westport, one of the last stretches on this part of the coast where a county road, Cranberry Beach Road, still runs public vehicles right onto the sand. Five marked trails wind through the dunes, and the welcome center and amphitheater give it a more built-out, family camping feel than the wilder beaches nearby.
One of the last easy drive-on beaches south of Westport with genuinely well-kept facilities, used by locals for camping and clamming rather than just passed through on the way somewhere else.
How we score beachesReserve early for the shoulder seasons too, not just summer. Campsites in the low-lying areas flood seasonally from November through April, and the park fills around razor clam openers regardless of the weather.
A Discover Pass is required for day use, with an extra $10 a night fee for unattended vehicles and a $5 trailer dump fee.
The main beach access is paved to the dune line; the five hiking trails through the dunes are unpaved and uneven.
Dogs are allowed on leash, though signed snowy plover nesting closures apply seasonally in parts of the dunes.
Low-lying campsites flood from November through April in wet years. Late summer and early fall are the driest, most reliable window.
