Gray's Beach
Yarmouth Port, MA
Gray's Beach is a small beach at the edge of Bass Hole in Yarmouth Port, reached by a boardwalk across the salt marsh. Cape Cod Bay tides pull out far, leaving wide flats at low water. Sunsets here are the reason many locals come, and the boardwalk is a landmark on its own.
The marsh boardwalk and sunsets make it a real local favorite, though the beach is small and the lot fills on warm evenings.
How we score beachesCome about an hour before sunset. Bring a light layer, because the wind off the marsh cools quickly once the sun is down.
A small town lot serves the boardwalk. Check current Yarmouth sticker or fee rules before you go, since beach parking is regulated in season.
The boardwalk is flat and wide across the marsh. The last stretch onto the sand is uneven and soft.
Summer evenings are best. In spring and fall the marsh grass turns from green to gold and the crowds thin out.
