Haleiwa Aliʻi Beach Park

Haleiwa, HI

SurfingFamily-friendly

Haleiwa Aliʻi Beach Park hosts most of the North Shore's biggest surf contests come winter, a wide sand and grass park with a reliable, well shaped break just offshore. Outside contest season it's a straightforward local beach, calmer in summer, good for a swim when the pro tour tents aren't set up on the lawn.

A genuine piece of surf history and a solid summer swim beach, but winter means contest closures and crowds that push regular beachgoers elsewhere.

How we score beaches
Local Tip

Check the contest schedule before you go in winter. The water and sometimes the parking lot get shut down entirely during events like the Vans Triple Crown.

Parking

A large free lot serves the park off Kamehameha Highway, filling fast during surf contests.

Accessibility

Flat, paved paths run from the lot to the sand.

Weather & the best time to visit

Winter brings the biggest surf and the contest crowds, while summer flattens out into an easy, uncrowded swim.
