Hills Beach
Biddeford, ME
Hills Beach is a compact neighborhood beach on the Saco Bay side of Biddeford, reached down Hills Beach Road. The sand is fine and the bay keeps the water gentle. The crowd is mostly people from the surrounding streets, so it stays low key even in summer.
A quiet, low key beach with gentle water, but it is small and parking is the constant complaint.
How we score beachesWalk the shoreline at low tide, when the beach widens and shorebirds work the flats. It is a good place to see across Saco Bay.
Neighborhood street parking near the beach is limited. Check posted signs and expect to walk a few minutes.
A short walk from the road to fine, soft sand. No boardwalk or paved access to the water.
Summer afternoons are the warmest, with modest surf because the bay is sheltered. Early fall brings clear air and calm water.
