Hollywood Beach
Port Angeles, WA
Hollywood Beach is a small, roughly thousand foot stretch of soft, light colored sand right downtown next to the City Pier, unusual for a coastline that's mostly gravel and cobble. Locals launch kayaks and paddleboards here, fish off the pier, and gather for the summer Concerts on the Pier series just steps away.
Genuinely sandy and walkable straight from downtown, a real local gathering spot, though it's small and sits right against a working waterfront.
How we score beachesTime a visit to watch the Coho ferry pull out for Victoria, BC. It departs right past the beach and is worth the few minutes if you're already downtown.
Free parking at the pier lot and along nearby streets.
Flat, paved access from downtown via the Olympic Discovery Trail straight to the sand.
Summer brings the concerts and the most comfortable water for wading. It's walkable most of the year given its downtown location.
