Homestead Bayfront Park sits right beside the entrance to Biscayne National Park, its own shallow, lifeguarded atoll pool the real beach here since much of Biscayne Bay's shoreline is too shallow and grassy for open swimming. It's the beach the national park itself doesn't have, a short walk from Convoy Point's visitor center and boat launch.

The shallow, lifeguarded atoll pool fills a real gap for swimming right next to Biscayne National Park's otherwise beach-less headquarters, though the no pets policy and payment reliability issues are worth knowing ahead of time.

How we score beaches
Local Tip

Pair a visit here with the national park's Convoy Point visitor center right next door, since Biscayne National Park's own headquarters has no real beach of its own. Bring cash for parking, the park's wifi for card payment isn't always reliable.

Parking

Parking requires payment, with more than 350 spaces; cash is recommended since app-based payment can be unreliable.

Accessibility

The atoll pool and beach are a short, flat walk from the parking areas, lifeguarded and shallow.

Pets

Pets aren't allowed at the park, service animals excepted.

Weather & the best time to visit

Winter and spring bring South Florida's driest, mildest weather and the biggest crowds. Summer's heat and hurricane season, June through November, thin things out despite the warmest water of the year.
