Honeyman Memorial State Park Dunes Beach Access
Florence, OR
Honeyman State Park itself sits inland on freshwater Cleawox and Woahink Lakes, but a trail from the park climbs over one of the tallest dune fields in the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area to reach the ocean beach beyond. It's one of the more popular sandboarding launch points on the coast thanks to the height of the dune right at the park boundary.
The combination of lake swimming and a genuine dune adventure to reach the ocean makes this a well loved multi activity stop, though the walk to the actual beach is a real commitment.
How we score beachesThe walk over the dune to the beach is longer and harder than it looks, closer to a mile of soft sand. Bring water and expect it to take longer than a normal beach walk.
A day use fee applies at Honeyman State Park, which also includes lake swimming as a cooler water alternative.
The dune crossing to the beach is soft, open sand with real elevation change, difficult for strollers or wheelchairs.
Leashed dogs are allowed throughout the park.
Summer, June through September, is the busiest season for both the lakes and the dune crossing to the beach.
