Honokowai Beach Park stretches along a shallow, reef protected lagoon in West Maui, more a wading and picnicking spot than a swimming beach given how skinny the sand runs at high tide. Families with small kids favor it for exactly that reason, the reef keeping the water calm and knee deep well out from shore.
A reliable, calm spot for young kids and picnics, but the narrow sand and shallow reef bottom mean it's not much of a swimming or snorkeling destination for anyone older.
