Horsfall Beach
North Bend, OR
Horsfall Beach sits at the north end of the Coos Bay dune sheet, one of the few beaches on the south coast where off highway vehicles are legally permitted, drawing a steady stream of dune buggies and ATVs from the staging area. Away from the OHV zone, the beach itself stretches wide and largely undeveloped, popular for camping and beachcombing.
A real destination for OHV riders specifically, but the vehicle noise and dust make it a lesser pick for anyone just looking for a quiet beach walk.
How we score beachesAsk at the campground office which sections are open to vehicles that week, since OHV zones here shift seasonally to protect nesting snowy plovers.
A day use fee applies at the main Horsfall staging area and campground.
Open sand and dune access from the staging area; conditions vary by OHV activity and season.
Leashed dogs are allowed on the beach.
Snowy plover nesting closures typically run March through September in posted areas; summer is the busiest OHV season overall.
