Indialantic sits just south of Melbourne Beach along a quieter stretch of the Space Coast, with Sunrise Park anchoring the main public beach access and a genuine off-leash dog beach a short drive south at Canova Park. The pace here runs noticeably slower than the bigger tourist draws further north around Cocoa Beach.

A genuine off-leash dog beach and a noticeably calmer pace than Cocoa Beach make it a real local favorite, though it's a plainer stretch of sand without a landmark pier or surf shop to draw outside visitors.

How we score beaches
Local Tip

Head to Canova Dog Beach a little further south if traveling with a dog, it's Brevard County's only real off-leash beach and it's free. Sunrise Park itself has metered parking that fills slower than the county's busier beaches, worth knowing if a spontaneous visit is the plan.

Parking

Parking at Sunrise Park runs 1 dollar an hour, cheaper than the metered lots further north in Cocoa Beach. Canova Dog Beach has its own free parking.

Accessibility

Sunrise Park has a paved path and boardwalk crossover from the lot to the sand, flat and easy. The walk from parking to the water is short at most of Indialantic's access points.

Pets

Pets aren't allowed at Sunrise Park itself, but leashed dogs are welcome off leash at nearby Canova Dog Beach, Brevard County's only designated dog beach.

Weather & the best time to visit

Spring and fall bring the mildest weather and thinnest crowds along this quieter stretch of the Space Coast. Summer's warmer water and hurricane season, June through November, still draw steady local use given the shorter drive from inland Brevard County.
