Jackson Beach
Friday Harbor, WA
Jackson Beach sits about two miles from downtown Friday Harbor, a long rocky gravel and sand beach operated by the Port of Friday Harbor with a small boat launch and dock. It's the kind of easy, close in beach locals default to for a bonfire, a volleyball game, or just walking a dog.
Easy, close to town, and genuinely used by locals for everything from bonfires to dog walks, a reliable default beach rather than a special occasion one.
How we score beachesIt's about a twenty minute walk from downtown if you'd rather leave the car, or a five minute drive. Either way it's the most convenient real beach to the ferry terminal and town.
Free parking at the port facility.
Popular with local dog walkers; dogs are commonly seen off leash near the water though standard leash rules apply in developed areas.
