Jetties Beach
Nantucket, MA
Jetties Beach is Nantucket's town beach on the north shore, a short ride from downtown with a playground, restrooms, and the Sandbar restaurant. Calm Nantucket Sound water and gentle shallows make it the island's go to for families. Beach wheelchairs are available on a first come basis.
Calm, lifeguarded, and full of facilities close to town, but it fills up on peak summer days.
How we score beachesIt is an easy bike ride from town, which beats fighting for a spot in the lot on summer weekends. Bring a towel and stay for the sunset view over the harbor mouth.
There is a parking lot at the beach that fills on summer days. Many visitors bike or take the shuttle.
A special walkway leads toward the sand, and beach wheelchairs are available first come, first served. Restrooms are on site.
Nantucket Sound water is gentle and warm by late July. Summer is peak season, and September is calm.
