Kamaole Beach Park I is the first and, by local consensus, quietest of Kihei's three Kamaole parks, a wide arc of sand with a grassy lawn and none of the tour van traffic that finds its way to its neighbors. Families with young kids gravitate here for the gentle, gradually sloping entry into the water.

A genuinely calm, family friendly stretch that locals prefer precisely because it's quieter than the other two Kamaoles, though it also has fewer amenities as a result.

How we score beaches
Local Tip

This is the Kamaole to pick over II and III if a calmer, less crowded stretch is the goal. It gets less foot traffic simply for being first on the road heading south.

Parking

A free county lot sits right off South Kihei Road, moderate in size and generally easier to find a spot in than at Kamaole II or III.

Accessibility

A grassy lawn with picnic pavilions leads onto flat sand, an easy, gradual walk into the water with no rocks or drop offs close to shore.

Weather & the best time to visit

Kihei's dry side climate keeps this beach usable nearly every day of the year, with summer bringing the calmest, clearest water.
