Kaspian Beach
Tahoma, CA
Kaspian Beach is a Forest Service picnic area along half a mile of cobbled West Shore shoreline, between Tahoe City and Homewood. It has a lot of picnic tables, a 100 foot public pier, and restrooms. The West Shore bike path runs right beside it, so cyclists outnumber swimmers on most summer days.
A good bike stop with a pier and plenty of tables, but the cobble shore isn't comfortable for lying out.
How we score beachesBike here from Tahoe City and eat lunch at the end of the pier. The water under it is clear enough to watch fish.
Parking at the day-use area off Highway 89.
Paved areas reach the picnic tables and pier; the shoreline itself is cobbles.
Summer is when the bike path is busiest. The cobbled shore stays cool underfoot even on hot afternoons.
