Kepuhi Beach
Hanalei, HI
Kepuhi Beach sits along a quiet bend of coast near the Hanalei Colony Resort, a narrow, uncrowded stretch that most people speed past on the way to Haena. It doesn't have the reef protection or the reputation of its more famous neighbors, just open sand and a clear view up the coast toward the Napali cliffs.
A genuinely peaceful stretch of sand, but it lacks any reef protection and has no facilities, so it stays a drive by rather than a destination for most people.
How we score beachesPark legally along Alamoo Road and use the marked public access rather than cutting through the resort grounds, which locals and residents both appreciate.
Limited legal parking runs along Alamoo Road in Wainiha, with a marked public access path nearby.
A short, flat sandy path leads from the road to the beach, an easy walk though unpaved.
Winter's north swells bring a stronger shorebreak and currents that make this a walking beach more than a swimming one, while summer calms the water enough for wading closer to shore.
