Lambert's Cove Beach
West Tisbury, MA
Lambert's Cove Beach is a west facing stretch of sand on the Vineyard Sound side of West Tisbury, reached by a winding road through woods and stone walls. The bluffs behind the beach and long views across the Sound make it a favorite among up island residents. It is often called one of the most beautiful beaches on the island.
A stunning and beloved up-island beach, though summer access is limited to residents and renters during daytime.
How we score beachesNon-residents can visit before 7 AM or after 5 PM in the season and any time off season. An evening visit for sunset is the best way in.
From mid June through mid September the beach is restricted to residents and renters from 7 AM to 5 PM, with a paid vehicle sticker required (reported at $75 per vehicle, $15 walk-on). Off season it is open to everyone.
A short path leads from the lot to the sand, which is soft near the water. Expect few facilities.
Dogs are allowed before 10 AM in a designated area in season.
Sunsets over the Sound are the highlight, and the water warms steadily through August. Off season, the beach is open and quiet.
