Little Harbor Beach

Wareham, MA

ScenicUncrowded

Little Harbor Beach is a 22 acre conservation-minded shoreline at the head of Buzzards Bay in Wareham, with a salt marsh next door and piping plovers that nest in season. It is open from dawn to dusk. A resident sticker is required to park in the paved lot, so this is a beach mostly for townspeople and their guests.

Wide open marsh and shore views with real wildlife, but the sticker requirement shuts out most visitors.

How we score beaches
Local Tip

Keep off any roped or marked plover nesting areas in spring and early summer. Wildlife wardens are strict about it and the birds are the reason the beach feels quiet.

Parking

Paved lot requiring a resident sticker ($30 a year, or $50 a year for a guest).

Accessibility

Paved lot to soft sand; the beach is not ADA accessible.

Pets

No dogs are allowed.

Weather & the best time to visit

Spring and early summer bring the shorebirds, and the marsh is loudest at dusk. By August the water is warm and the plovers have mostly fledged.
